Shift Pattern: Flexible for both days and nights. (Flexibility essential)

 
Unfortunately, we cannot provide VISA sponsorship and we do not hire on a relocation basis, you must currently be based in/around the Doncaster area and able to commute.
 
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced female Complex Care Worker to provide high-quality, personalized support to our clients in Doncaster with complex medical needs. This role is female-only due to the personal care requirements of the client and is essential for ensuring her safety, comfort, and overall well-being. This role will be working across different packages of care in the Doncaster Area – relevant training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

Support Workers cover all manners of support for others – from companionship and days out, to personal care and housekeeping. 


  • Airway Management & Tracheostomy Care: Assist with maintaining a safe airway, including tracheostomy care and management, ensuring proper ventilation and comfort. Support the client in performing tracheal suction when required.

  • PEG Care (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy): Administer nutrition, hydration, and medications via PEG tube. Ensure correct care of the site and monitor intake for optimal health and well-being.

  • Vital Sign Monitoring: Regularly check and document vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, oxygen saturation, and overall health status, to detect and respond to any concerns promptly.

  • Moving and Handling: Support the client with safe moving and handling techniques, helping maintain her mobility and independence as much as possible.

  • Physiotherapy Support: Assist with passive movements and stretches as part of a physiotherapy regimen to help prevent contractures and support physical health.

  • Medication Management: Administer prescribed medications, including nebulised treatments, and manage access to the client’s porta-Cath for any required treatments or interventions.

  • Personal Care: Provide sensitive and respectful assistance with personal care, including hygiene, grooming, dressing, and toileting, while ensuring the client’s dignity is maintained at all times.

  • Social and Activity Support: Enable the client to engage in chosen activities both at home and in the community, fostering a fulfilling and enjoyable lifestyle.

  • Appointment Support: Accompany the client to medical and personal appointments, ensuring she has the support needed to feel comfortable and at ease.

  • Emotional & Psychological Support: Offer empathetic and sensitive emotional support, responding to the client’s psychological needs with compassion and understanding.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Requirements:

  • Female applicants only (this is an occupational requirement as per the Equality Act 2010 due to the personal care involved).
  • Experience in complex care, particularly with tracheostomy and PEG management.
  • Ability to perform tracheal suction and airway management.
  • Knowledge of medication administration, including nebulised treatments and porta-Cath access.
  • Strong moving and handling skills with the ability to promote independence.
  • Understanding of physiotherapy techniques, especially passive movements and stretches.
  • Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach, especially in providing emotional support.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to accompany the client to activities and appointments.
  • A calm, professional manner, with the ability to respond to changing health needs.
